Adjala Central P.S. Update Central P.S. Update

Adjala Central Public School

"Where Seeds of Success Are Sown"

Wishing you a "happy summer" from Adjala Central Public School.

Once again, our school has been a very busy place filled with fun and learning.

Our student leadership team and Gr. 8 students continue to organize many fun events and fundraisers at our school. Students brought in toonies for "Toonie Thursdays" to raise money for disaster relief efforts in Fort McMurry. June 17th was our "Adjala's Got Talent" talent show, with many amazing performances. The students in the Talent Show also got to perform for the Volunteers at our Volunteer Appreciation Tea, as a very effective way for students to say thank you to our many Volunteers. Staff brought in many different delicious treats as their way of saying "Thanks". We've also had many spirit days organized, covering everything from PJ Day to Crazy Hair Day along with our student led assemblies. Whatever is happening, there is never any shortage of wonderful students willing to join in and move an initiative from idea to realization.

Our teachers have also been very busy coaching many different teams and organizing school visits and class trips. Our Junior Boys' and Girls' Basketball teams played well at their season final Zone Tournaments and our Intermediate Rugby Team had a lot of fun at their tournament in Alliston. Intermediate Softball players have their tournament on June 22nd. After our very successful school Track and Field event for students in grades 4 to 8, thirty five students went to our area Track and Field event to represent their school very well. Primary students got the opportunity to have their Primary Play Day which was a lot of fun for everyone. As for school visitors: Scientists in the School came to run some fun experiments for primary students; and Knights in the Classroom helped our Gr. 4 to 6 students understand what medieval life was like; As part of their French instruction students in grades 4 to 6 got to see Gregg LeRock perform at the Mississauga Living Arts Center; Grade 4 and 7 students went to the Tiffin Outdoor Education Center and our Primary students visited the local river to examine ecosystems.

Volunteers have really had a positive impact in our school. Our School Council parent volunteers ran many different fundraisers: North Country Meat, Track and Field BBQ, Popcorn Days and our twice weekly Hot Lunch Program. The money raised has supported purchasing IPads, Chromebooks, books for our reading room and even robots to support our students in learning about coding and programming. Over 20 volunteers came out in near freezing weather to help run our school Track Meet and provide a BBQ lunch to our entire school. What a great day! Volunteers are everywhere in our school helping students with reading, writing, math and helping them practice how to be good citizens. Thank you to everyone that has helped make a difference at Adjala Central P.S..

We said goodbye to many staff this year: Mrs. Nelles, Mrs. Dekker, Mrs. Fuller, Mrs. Shelson, Mrs. Bone and Mrs. McDevitt who retired after 28 years in education. We welcomed Mrs. Donnelly as our new school secretary. Mr. Russell will also be leaving us and Mr. Pattison will be coming to Adjala Central P.S. as our new Principal.

Follow us on Twitter - @AdjalaCentral

Or visit our website –
